Course description

'Form and flow' sculpture course explores both technical, skill-based learning alongside time to play and experiment. This course is facilitated by tutor and sculptor Mairi Gillies who will guide participants through research processes and into practice in a fun and encouraging environment. Some of the practical skills being taught will include drawing for sculpture, mouldmaking, casting, carving and assemblage. Participants will be taken on guided research trips into the surrounding living landscape for inspiration, to gather materials, and to learn about Gaelic culture and ‘ways of seeing’ that inform sculptural practices. Following which, participants will head into the studio for a technical lesson and will be encouraged to play, experiment and make. This course is aimed at participants of various levels from those new to making in 3D to artists already doing so, but who wish to have time in a supportive environment to focus on their practice or try something new.
