Course description
Reothart nan Ealain is delighted to be running this online course exploring ‘Sense of place - a creative journey into place-based practice’ through eight sessions, over two terms facilitated by Mairi Gillies. What is it? A sense of place is a multidimensional relationship between people and spacial settings. This course is for those who want to explore or deepen their creative relationship with place – the cultural and physical landscape they live in. Whether it’s urban or rural, fixed or transient, Participants will be encouraged to engage in personal and creative explorations, embedded and embodied in ‘place’, investigating how this can inform narrative, expression and identity. Online sessions will focus on a theme which nurtures a research-based practice, inspires creativity and collaborative approaches, both to connect with others on the course and to couple participants more deeply with their environment. Participants will also have time to share and reflect on their personal learning journeys through guided group time. Alongside suggested activities to try between sessions, participants will be encouraged and supported to undertake self-directed learning, making any outcomes relevant to their needs. Our cohort of participants will create a supportive community of practice for the duration of the course. This form of active engagement will encourage weekly conversations between sessions and opportunities to take part in a ‘slow art’ collaboration by post. When is it?
