A creative session with mono-printing exploring the landscape and flora of Uig
Course description
Island Impressions Mono-printing with geli 10am - 1pm A fun workshop with the focus on experimentation, suitable for all ages over 6 - children have to be accompanied by an adult. No prior knowledge of printmaking or any particular skills are required.* Particiants will join tutor Sandra Kennedy to spend a morning together discovering the beauty of wild plants - from wildflowers, rushes, mosses and heather to grasses. Using these plants to make beautiful prints with geli plates. Beginning with a brief introduction to this simple technique of mono-printing; we will then go for a short walk to collect some suitable plant material; while enjoying being out in the moorland around Loch Croistean where you can see summer sheilings, peat banks, rivers and the loch. After our our collecting walk we will head into the studio where we will spend the rest of our morning experimenting without rules or expectations. You will go home with lots of interesting and beautiful prints as a keepsake of your day! If you can- please wear lots of layers including waterproofs and comfortable shoes for walking off road.
